About Charles Newington

Charles has had a long and varied career, which started with art training at the Byam Shaw School in Notting Hill Gate (now attached to Central St Martins). Here he did a Foundation Year and later moved on to study Graphic Art at Camberwell, which suited him because he is an upside down left hander and the technique involved in graphics this mattered less than spattering paintings Please contact the gallery for available work by this artist

British Wildlife portrayed in the raw using ink and a secret ingredient, along side oil studies of birds and animals of Britain in quirky, obscure tableaux. Originally from Staffordshire, Jane trained for eight years as an illustrator. Now living in the marshes of Sandwich, she takes the wildlife surrounding the studio as models. An exhibitor with the Sunday Times watercolour competition, Jane has also exhibited with The Royal Society of British Artists as well as many galleries throughout the country and worldwide. I started wood engraving on endgrain boxwood in 1980, whilst studying at the Royal College of Art, and since then have been making prints for illustration, commissions and for exhibition. Inspirations include landscape and architecture. I am fascinated by subjects which give me the opportunity to explore the textures and patterns which can be made with the various engraving tools.
